About 303 Radon Mitigation
Ty and Elliott Silver install radon systems across Boulder County, with close to forty years of Colorado construction behind the tools.
The Father and Son Behind 303 Radon Mitigation
303 Radon Mitigation is a father-and-son business based in Lafayette, Colorado. Ty and Elliott Silver run it together, so you are dealing with the owners on every job. No dispatcher, no rotating crew.
We install radon systems in Boulder County homes. That is the whole business. Not a home inspection company with radon bolted on, and not a handyman operation that takes radon work when it comes up.
What we bring to it is close to forty years of Colorado construction behind the tools.
Nearly 40 Years of Colorado Construction
Elliott started in construction in 1986, at sixteen years old. He learned the trade from a father-and-son construction company in Pennsylvania, where he was taught carpentry along with a set of standards that were not negotiable: do the work right, tell people the truth, take the craftsmanship seriously.
Forty years in, he knows every phase of a house. Framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and the structural work underneath all of it. He also knows Colorado building codes cold, which matters when a system has to pass inspection.
- 1986 Started at sixteen Learned carpentry from a father-and-son company in Pennsylvania.
- 1990 Moved to Colorado Worked as a carpenter around Boulder and Denver.
- 2001 Founded Silver Contracting A separate general contracting business, still running today.
- Today Custom homes and renovations The last decade building custom homes across the Front Range.
Why We Started a Radon Mitigation Company in Boulder County
- Boulder County has a radon problem Roughly half of Colorado homes test above the EPA action level of 4 pCi/L, and every county in the state is rated high risk. Boulder County sits on soil that produces more radon than most of the country.
- Radon mitigation is a construction job You are cutting a hole in a slab, sealing it, running pipe through a finished house, wiring a fan, and venting above a roofline. That is framing, electrical and finish work, not a specialty product install.
Done poorly, you get exposed PVC bolted to the front of the house, pipe running through the middle of a finished basement, and a homeowner told to hire their own electrician. We also service an existing system when someone else left one behind that stopped working.
That is the gap. Most radon companies subcontract the construction work or decline the harder jobs. We came at it from the other direction.
What Nearly 40 Years of Construction Means for Your Radon System
- Finished basement? We build the soffit or false wall to hide the pipe, and build it to match the room. Framing and finish work, handled in-house.
- No outlet near the fan? We wire one in. You are not calling an electrician after we leave.
- Tight access or bare dirt? The jobs that get declined or quoted high by companies that only do the simple version. We take them.
Outside, we run the vent through a downspout instead of leaving bare pipe on the front of the house. Small thing, but it is the difference between a system that looks planned and one that looks added on. The same goes for dirt crawl space installs, where the sealing work decides whether the system holds pressure at all.
Every job starts with a free on-site consultation. We walk the property, work out where the system goes, and give you one price before anything starts.
